STUDENTS FOR MENTAL HEALTH
Why This Matters
The education system does not pay enough attention to mental health. While grades and next steps after high school are important, very little is more significant than a person's health (including mental health). Without adequate resources, students do not feel comfortable reaching out to administrators or teachers because they cannot do much about the situation, therefore, impacting students' ability to learn and go to school every day. I have always thought that schools should be a safe place for students to foster connections in order to grow and prepare to move onto real life, and while in some ways schools provide these opportunities, there is plenty of room to create positive change regarding mental health.
